Taking care of your teeth and gums is important. Dental conditions such as decay or gum disease can release bacteria into the body, increasing risk factors for other serious health conditions like diabetes, stroke, and even cancer. If you do experience advanced decay or significant trauma to a tooth, it is important to seek treatment immediately to restore health. We offer biological root canals to our patients in Central HK.
When decay is not treated early, it can travel further into the tooth and cause problems in the pulp, where nerves are located. This may cause a great deal of pain and discomfort when eating, talking, or from exposure to hot and cold fluids.
Root canal treatment involves removing nerves, pulp, bacteria, and infection from inside this area to eliminate the source of pain. The chamber and canals are then cleaned and sealed with biologically-friendly materials. The tooth is topped with a crown to strengthen it and prevent further damage.
Root canal treatment can save teeth from extensive damage and the need for extraction. They also eliminate pain associated with an infection or abscess, and restore functionality to the tooth. Furthermore, if a tooth is extracted, a patient will often need an additional restorations such as an implant, partial denture, or bridge to prevent teeth from drifting into the gap and causing more problems.
