A study conducted by global research firm Kelton reinforced what many of us already suspected: Individuals with straight teeth are perceived as more successful, wealthier, and more likely to get the job than their crooked teeth counterparts with otherwise like skill sets, work experience, and personalities.
Around 1,050 “Behind the Smile” survey respondents were shown photos of men and women with teeth of various conditions. They were then asked questions about the people behind those photos. Respondents were encouraged to answer honestly, unaware that they were actually comparing people with straight teeth versus those with crooked smiles.
What researchers were told is encouraging for those with nice smiles. Yet these findings are disconcerting for those with otherwise nice physical features, who actually may be more intelligent, personable, and more motivated than their counterparts with straight teeth.
Some of the key findings include:
Those with straighter teeth were perceived to be healthier, happier, smarter, and even more honest than those with visible alignment issues.
Furthermore, respondents were more likely to recall a person’s teeth than their complexion, nose, hair, or body shape. With this in mind, it is no surprise that 3 in 5 respondents said they would rather have straight teeth than clear skin.
We ask: “What does your smile say about you? Is it conveying the ‘true you’?” If your answer is “no,” we have an effective, safe, and easy method to obtain a straighter, better smile in Central Hong Kong.
Teeth are straightened efficiently and comfortably with aligner trays, which are worn for at least 21 to 22 hours daily. Unlike obvious metal brackets and wires, these trays are made from clear plastic, so no one has to know you are wearing orthodontics.
Conventional braces were also uncomfortable. The metal can irritate delicate tissues. As for “fixed” dental appliances, dentists are the only ones who can remove conventional braces. This feature makes cleaning in-between and around the teeth and gums difficult. Oral hygiene can suffer.
With Invisalign, the customized trays that gradually shift teeth into proper alignment may be removed for eating, brushing, and flossing. It is important, however, to wear these trays as recommended because the No. 1 cause of Invisalign failures is due to patients not wearing them as prescribed.
Generally, Invisalign is a very effective treatment for a wide range of problems including mild to more severe cases of:
Teeth alignment can have a transformative effect on how individuals are perceived by others and, in turn, on self-confidence. To get started in Central Hong Kong, phone 852 2810-1801.
If it is determined that Invisalign is a suitable option for straightening, a 3-dimensional, computer-guided model will be created to walk through each step of treatment and show patients how teeth will look post-treatment. Those aligner trays will be designed based off of this computer model. Every two weeks a new set of trays will be worn to correspond with the treatment plan, which results in incrementally moving teeth into proper alignment.
